Why the abstract
When i read a poem in the afternoon which I felt evoked no emotion in me but was written by a famous poet who knows his trade it made me wonder "Why this abstract" .Poem so abstract that it seemed a smorgasbord of words that independently looked so jaded but when it was strung it hardly made sense..Do the great artists resort to the abstract with a purpose to exclude the mass.Is it a mask to be put on to sound arty enough.
What purpose does a poem, art, music serve if it cannot be understood.Leaving open to intrepretation is another post production way of presenting ART.have you ever wondered what a waste of time and resources in putting up a painting or installation art that defies sense or logic.
What purpose does art serve if it has linkages, associations which are so complex that the mind perhaps stops wondering because in some form the piece of art or a literature has to appeal to atleast the epidermis of heart or mind.
Artists are not postmen to deliver messages nor are they dictionaries to define or provide meanings but some where they should connect. The Denominator is high for the artsy people, more the abstarct more the feeling of exclusivity..more the real more the Kitchy.I hope the abstract is not the excuse of lacking in the fundamentals because anything could go for abstract and the right of free expression. The debate in my mind continued why the abstract
